Jerky Beef
Jerky was already manufactured centuries ago of the Indians as high-quality food. They dried the best pieces of lean meat, refined it with game fruits and gave it by the addition of selected spices its special taste. Jerky was carried forward by its small weight gladly as provisions on long ways or for the hunt. Variants of the Jerkys are for example the earlier Pemmikan of the North American Indians, Biltong in South Africa or Charqui and/or Charque in South America. Of the latters the designation leads itself „Jerky" off, which was transferred to the English language.
